JOB OPPORTUNITY: Operations Assistant (Full-time)

An exciting opportunity has become available to join the team at Flynqy Pilot Training as a full-time Operations Assistant. We're looking for a fun, enthusiastic and reliable person to provide additional support for our busy flight training organisation.

Everyday is different, with this diverse role allowing the successful candidate to get involved in every aspect of day-to-day life at a pilot training school. From meeting, greeting and supporting our customers, to invoicing and account management, to assisting with social media marketing. You will also have the unique opportunity to gain knowledge in aviation specific areas such as aircraft maintenance management, pilot training and flight planning.

This position is a full-time permanent position for the right candidate. The position will involve working 5 days in 7, to include regular weekend shifts and additional holiday cover. The successful candidate must be at least 18 years of age, as periods of solo working may be required. The position will require a degree of flexibility from the successful candidate, as hours will vary to suit the bookings schedule, daylight hours and weather, often involving longer days and evening work in the summer when daylight hours allow. This is a minimum wage position and we would ideally be looking for the successful candidate to start in March 2023.

Day to day responsibilities will include (but not limited to):

  • Greeting and welcoming customers and visitors during opening hours, and providing information on flying courses, prices, and requirements
  • Managing customer details and accounts accurately, processing payments, managing bookings, entering flight times, and handling telephone and email enquiries
  • Providing support to the instructional team to ensure the smooth running of the daily flight training program.
  • Communicating with Air Traffic Control (ATC) and Airport Dispatch to manage the daily flying and refuelling schedule
  • Maintaining accurate and up to date aircraft records such as technical logs, maintenance documentation and training records
  • Ensuring aircraft are suitably parked, re-fuelled, secured and covered at the end of the day
  • Aircraft and office cleaning (to maintain general and COVID secure standards)
  • Assisting with social media activities
  • Promoting safety awareness throughout the organisation

Knowledge, Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum of GCSE English and Maths Level A-C (or equivalent)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience of customer service or reception work desirable
  • Full UK Driving Licence and own transport is essential due to location
  • Proven organisational and administrative skills are desirable, with success in managing a variety of tasks and/or activities concurrently and under pressure
  • Self-motivated, proactive with a great attention to detail
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (specifically Excel, Word and PowerPoint) and social media
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Professional, positive, and enthusiastic attitude with the ability to use own initiative
  • Ability to bake cake (and enjoy eating cake) desirable
  • The successful candidate will be required be required to obtain a DBS Certificate and Airside Security Pass
